Featured: 5 Ways to Relax Your Mind

Life always catches up to us, and that includes the stress of juggling work, relationships, tasks, and personal interests. Dealing with all of these things with a busy mind on top of it all can cause some damage. Your ability to focus and perform the task at hand to your best abilities will deteriorate. Here are five ways to relax your mind in order to live daily in a more stress-free manner and with a productive spirit!

1. Disconnect

Switch off your phone or put it inside a drawer far away from your working area. Thinking about emails, messages, and anything else related to the online world will cause you to be unable to focus properly. If it’s really crucial for you to check your email every half hour, put a timer on for a period of time (depending when you need to check that email or make a certain call) before you put it inside a drawer. When the time’s up, do what you have to do. It’s important to step away from your phone when you want to be productive and get things done because it can put a severe halt in your projects.

2. Take a Bath

I don’t know why, but baths possess certain magical powers that allow you to relax in a matter of minutes. Run a bath, put your favourite salts and oils in, blast your favourite playlist and pour yourself a glass of wine if that’s your fancy! Allow yourself to be in this relaxing environment for 15 to 20 minutes. Doing this will relax your mind and body, preparing you for the tasks you need to tackle still or your good night of sleep so you may wake up regenerated and filled with energy!

3. Practice a Hobby

If you have something that you love doing and that relaxes you whenever you do it, get to it then! Even if it’s for as little as ten minutes, doing something that you thoroughly enjoy will raise your spirits and improve your mood. Ideally, this activity should be something that allows your mind to escape from reality. Creative hobbies such as reading, writing, painting, or playing an instrument, are great examples that promote relaxation.

4. Take a Nap

Sometimes you could be running low on sleep and not even aware of it. Taking a 20-minute nap (no more than that or else it’ll be harmful instead of helpful) will make you feel better than two cups of coffee would. Set an alarm to ensure that you sleep for 20 minutes only, and get comfortable in your bed or couch!

5. Let It All Out

Call or text a friend to ask them how they’re doing and in return, tell them about how you’ve been doing yourself. Let all of the stress out through words by letting your friend know about the things that are bothering you and getting under your nerve! This is a highly therapeutic act that will benefit your day’s performance and peace of mind.

Never allow stress to take over your life. Adhere to one of these and begin working towards a more peaceful state of mind!
