Introducing Mibba Staff: sindie

There's no doubt that that sindie is giving back to Mibba. Not only is she an editor and writer for the Mibba Magazine, but she has just been appointed a Story Editor as well! With all that on her hands, we still managed to ask for a few questions for this week's article. Here is Sindie for all to get to know her.

1. When did you become a member of Mibba's Magazine?

Mid-July, I do believe. I don't exactly remember. I know that I started writing for the MM at the end of July, but was an editor for at least a few weeks before that.

2. What made you apply for the position you have?

I've always wanted to be more involved on Mibba, and I jumped at the first opportunity I could. Being an editor for the MM was a big step for me, because it really meant committing to something, which was exactly the responsibility I needed at the time.

3. If you could have any other position of staff, what would it be and why?

Up until now, I would have said story editor, but now I am one aha. So I think my goal in life is to be on the same level as Audrey T - total admin, total control. The reason being because I grew up watching Audrey work her way up the ladder, and now she's so well respected, and just all around an admirable Mibbian.

4. What's your favourite thing about the magazine?

What I love the most is the magazine staff. It's a great group of people, and I've made a lot of new friends. Another really cool thing is just how friendly and helpful they are - I know I can message losing control. at any time if I feel an article I'm writing is awkwardly worded, for example.

5. Favourite novel?

It changes a lot, but for right now it's The Reason by Lacey Sturm.

6. If you could choose any piece of writing of yours - be it onsite or not - which are you most proud of?

I'm very proud of It Was Suicide Season. This means so much to me, because it's the true story of how I lost my father. It took a lot of courage to post, but I've received so much support. It also really helped me cope with the loss, and gave me a lot of strength to keep going.

7. What does Mibba mean to you?

Mibba is the love of my life. I know that sounds strange, but I've been on this site for as long as I can remember. It's been my outlet, my muse, the place where I've made some of my best friends. I've learned how to channel my pain and hurt into my writing. I've learned that it's okay to be both original and cliché. Mibba is my home, I've grown up here, and I wouldn't change it for anything.

8. Biggest inspiration?

When it comes to life, music and my faith. When it comes to writing, however, I'm inspired by the people and situations in my life. I write about what I know.

9. If you could change one thing about Mibba, what would it be and why?

I can't think of any one thing at this moment, however I do really miss the old story layout maker. The only thing I can really actively think of would be for Jinxeh to be active again. But that would be more for nostalgia purposes than anything. When I first joined, it was when there were still people considered "Mibba famous" and I worshipped Audrey T and Jinxeh, [laughs].

10. If you could say something to every member of the site, what would it be?

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, to open up to the people here. I've never really had a bad experience with anyone here, everyone's always been friendly, supportive, and helpful. Also, keep writing. Even if it's not very good. Because it will get better. Take constructive criticism: we want to help you and your writing be all it can be. And never, ever be afraid to be who you are.

11. Final question — you've discovered a portal that leads to a fictional world but there's no way back. Which fictional world would it be and why?

This is such a hard question, and I am so conflicted when it comes to answering it. I think I'd really like to be transported to the world of shadowhunters from The Mortal Instruments. But if you asked me again in a week, it'd probably be a different answer.

Special thanks to lily hughes. and losing control. for editing!
