Re-Introducing Clubs: Reading Clubs

In Mibba's Clubs forum, there are many different clubs you can join. From fandom clubs to writing clubs, there's something there for everyone. If you're a Mibbian who likes to read - whether it be published novels or online fiction - a reading club might be right up your alley.

The Comment Culture Club

The Comment Culture Club is a club devoted to providing no-strings-attached feedback for Mibbian writers. Each week, club members simply read and comment as many Mibbian stories as possible. Everyone sets their own reading goal and tries to best it each week. They also keep a growing list of Recommended Reading – stories/poems they've read and loved – and are in the process of starting a Piece of the Week – a weekly function where they nominate one story or poem everyone has to read and comment.

The R&R Book Club

The Read and Review Book Club is our first Mibbian-based book club. This reading club focuses exclusively on original stories written by Mibbians and published here on Mibba. Each cycle, one of the group member's story is chosen at random. This story is the 'Weekly Assignment' and all members are required to read and comment on that piece, as well as get involved in the discussion taking place in the thread.

* Since this article was originally written, the Read and Review Club has been locked for inactivity.

The Sink or Swim Book Club

The Sink or Swim book Club is our only traditional book club – in the sense that it features published novels – but still, it isn't so straight-laced. This reading club only reads e-books that are available for free (whether through a sale or a publisher's/author's giveaway) and features a 'Sink or Swim' vote. Each week, a free e-book is chosen and members are asked to start reading. About halfway through the week, a poll is put up and members decided if the book is worth finishing or if they should 'sink' it and move on to a new one.

__________

Although these three clubs represent the entirety of reading clubs currently on Mibba, if there isn't something here that suits you, don't be afraid to start a reading club of your own. Or, if reading clubs isn't your thing at all, why not try a writing club?
