Introducing Mibba Staff: swell

For many, Mibba was found as an alternative to Quizilla, and those of us that remember the Great Quizilla Migration will remember the spike of users that came along with it. One such user is swell. Having been on the site for what seems like a lifetime, Alex is a familiar face around Mibba, and incredibly friendly to boot! Her recent addition to Mibba’s staff ranks sees her take up a position as a Story Editor. I caught up with her to find out a little more about the girl behind the username!

When did you join Mibba, and where did you hear about it?

I joined Mibba when people on Quizilla were talking about it (yes, that's right, I'm an OG Quizillan) and I signed up but never really gave it much notice. Once QZ joined forces with TeenNick and updated their site, a lot of QZ kids, including myself, migrated over to Mibba for a fresh start.

When did you become a member of staff, and what influenced you to join under your current role?

27th July 2016. I'd been wanting to join for a while since I consider Mibba to be my online home and I wanted to contribute more than just being a user. Being a story editor looked like an appealing role so I thought 'sure, why not?' and here we are.

What is your favourite part about Mibba?

The people. Everyone is so friendly and fun and it's so cool to be able to get to know members on more than just a superficial basis of liking someone's stories and talking to them every so often. There are some users on here I've really gotten to know well in the past year or so and they've helped contribute to making Mibba a cool place to be.

What is your least favourite part about Mibba?

Probably when we get those spammers, not so much anymore but when we used to have them frequently they were annoying. I also lowkey miss how old Mibba used to look, but I like that 'new' Mibba is much more organised.

What section of the site do you use most often?

The stories section for my editing duties, but I like the forums section the most.

If you could have any other position on Mibba’s staff, what one would you choose and why?

I like the colour rank of blog mod, plus they seem like they have a pretty chill job, so blog mod would be cool.

What piece of your own writing are you most proud of, and why?

Probably Where the Wind Takes Us, because it was my first original fic that I finished and it has everything I love in a story: friendship, comedy and silly teen drama.

What’s your biggest writing inspiration?

I don't have a sole source of inspiration but I find that I get a lot of ideas from TV shows but try to twist the idea to make it my own.

If you could only read one novel for the rest of your life, which one would you choose and why?

Does the HP series count as one novel?

What does Mibba mean to you?

Mibba to me is my safe haven - a place I can go if I need to let out some feelings in confessions, talk to someone wherever that may be, unleash my creativity in making a layout or writing a story - basically the place I go when I'm bored or I need to let off some steam and Mibba is my sanctuary of sorts to do that.

If you could say one thing to Mibbians, what would it be?

And finally — you're stuck in the middle of the zombie apocalypse with five staff members to help you survive. Who would you like to be stuck with, and why?

Vic - she's a badass, I feel this is fairly self-explanatory.
Kimi - she's small (in stature) but she lowkey scares me so she's definitely joining.
Sam - would know where to find the food since she's the biggest foodie I know.
Liz - she knows how to dress wounds.
Fae - she can take aesthetic shots of us being badasses and running majestically and whatnot. The squad's always gotta look on point.
