Shane is running away from her past. Fresh off of a plane from Syracuse, she finds herself in Pittsburgh, alone and exhausted. But with the help of her foul-mouthed yet loving cousin James and Kris, James’ quiet and adorable—albeit shy—friend and teammate, Shane is finding it easier to stand on her own two feet once again.

This story is built around Shane, the main character who comes with a troubled and murky past, and we get to watch as she re-learns how to connect with and trust in people. Where other writers might have chosen to cast a brother or best friend to play the role of 'protective male figure,' loadedexcuses chooses to make Shane's closest confidant a cousin. This creates a bond that's somewhat the best of both worlds. As cousins, James and Shane still hold that special familial bond but are removed enough to treat and view each other as good friends as well.

With her character Kris, loadedexcuses takes another step away from 'typical' by surpassing the tough bad-boy love interests and instead going for a cute, shy, and likeable character capable of building trust and burrowing his way past Shane's protective barriers and into her life. Though

loadedexcuses has written a story with a traditional backdrop, her writing style and wonderful attention to not only detail but character development sets this story apart from others.

Another great thing about this story is the author's use of the first person narrative which allows readers the chance to see into Shane's mind. This plays well in two ways: 1. the reader has access to the clever and funny musings of this interesting main character, and 2. through her thoughts and narration, readers are able to learn a lot more about her personality and allusive past.

Shane is a funny, raunchy, and very relatable character. We've all known women like her and, let's not lie, many of us could probably be her. The best part about this character is how real she is. She has faults, self-esteem issues, and her trust has to be earned (and not merely given away). As a character in a fan fiction, she doesn't fall short where many others do. Loadedexcuses has infused this character with depth and consistent character development, something that's well appreciated (though rarely seen) in stories like this.

I Wish You Would is hilarious, heart-wrenching, raunchy, and a little explicit. If you can handle the sexual innuendos and language, this story is definitely worth the time and the subscription.
