I Love Him, I Hate Him

Author: AishaAyesha
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Romance
Rating: PG-13
Lysha is madly in love with a boy called Carter Corthswells but he doesn’t even know she exists. He’s everything she’s ever wanted: flawless, handsome and a perfectly nice guy. But there’s one problem. He has a twin brother. Aayden Corthswells. Possibly the worst person in the world. He’s a bully, a player and just generally a bad guy. All the girls want to be with him. All the boys want to be friends with him. Except one. Lysha.
So when a wish goes horribly wrong and suddenly Aayden is the only one who can see her, the two have to work together to find a way to fix it. But will Lysha find that Carter’s not everything she expected him to be while Aayden is pretty damn good? Will her expectations be ruined? Having to live with only the boy she hates to talk to, things are soon to change.
I Love Him, I Hate Him is a fantastic interpretation on the classic girl-hates-boy tale. The female protagonist, Lysha, is a well thought out character who is the typical teenage girl. She has low self esteem, is madly in love with a boy and severely hates the biggest player in the school. From the very beginning the true meaning for Aayden’s bullying is hinted at and the reader is completely introduced to the girl that the story will follow for the next eleven chapters.
AishaAyesha either has a lot of experience in the field of relationships or has a very good imagination, as you soon find yourself believing that there is more to Aayden and Lysha’s arguments than meets to eye. The setting of the story is well laid out, adding mystery to the story when that small shop is introduced into the plot. The idea of a “magic spell” being used to make Carter fall for her almost insinuates about the magic behind true love but as the twist is revealed, AishaAyesha has a unique way of hinting that true love isn’t always what it’s made out to be. Although she may not realise the way her writing can be interpreted, this story gives you a gripping plot, enjoyable characters and sections of humour along the way.
In my opinion this story is definitely worth looking at. Sure, there are the occasional spelling mistakes or the sentence doesn’t quite run as smoothly as it should, but errors are rare. And, although this story had the potential to be a very cliché, boring love story, the added wit and humour of the characters saved it from certain death and straight away brought it to my attention. Though I don’t usually go for the love-hate romances, this story serves as an exception. I give I Love Him, I Hate Him the highest praise possible, 5 out of 5 stars, and just wish I could give it more. Congratulations AishaAyesha, you really do have a talent.
