Mibba's Dream Journal Challenge Winners

August "Dream Journal" Challenge

For the month of August Mibba hosted a Dream Journal Contest encouraging users to spend a couple of weeks keeping a dream journal in Mibba’s blog section. Then, choosing one (or more) of the dreams to create a short story or poem.

The finalists for the contest all did a fantastic job portraying their dreams in stories and poems and we want to thank everyone who participated! We really enjoyed reading your entries. The finalists are:

Stories

  1. Lucid by daisyfairy
  2. Secrets by perfect disaster
  3. Running From Nightmares by GreyAddiction

In the story Lucid by daisyfairy, she does a phenomenal job making the reader feel as if you are a part of her dream. You can feel the emotions the character is feeling and the longing she has to be with this important other. You get a sense of how important the person is, without really being told anything about him. She did a fantastic job and for that she has earned the bragging rights to be known as Mibba’s August Dream Journal Contest Story Winner. Congratulations daisyfairy!

For our poetry side of things, there was a slightly different approach that our winning writer chose. While the concept seemed to still mirror that of daisyfairy’s, hunger for a significant other, the reason behind it was slightly altered. In the poem In Drawers, the person in reference is the writer’s hero. The one who kept her sane and now that this person has fled from her life, she only has these crinkled pieces of paper to remember.

Poems

  1. In Drawers by AmorarEsDeVivir
  2. Hidden Light by Adulation
  3. Voldemort's Daughter by xXxMarchOfTheDeadxXx

September "Photography" Challenge

A good picture tells a story worth 1,000 words, and this month the staff and magazine challenge users to tell a story based on the original photography of Mibbians. During the last two weeks of August, the Mibba Magazine hosted a photography contest. Now, the winners have been selected, and the top photos are being used as photo prompts in the Magazine's September contest.
