"Do you know why you're here?" "I killed my parents."
Right from the short summary, this story draws readers in. The plot follows Jess, a drug addicted teenager who is accused of killing her parents while she's high, and the psychiatrist who attempts to get Jess to relive those memories and admit what really happened. The story takes place in the psychiatrists office, where the psychiatrists asks questions that Jess constantly ridicules. As the story goes on, we see Jess begin to trust the doctor, but not without her fair share of witty and indirect comebacks.
The unique thing about this story is the fact that the chapters consist mainly of dialogue, with descriptions inserted where they are needed. Though this can often hinder a story, it works incredibly well in adding to the mystery that surrounds Jess's traumatic life and reflects her closed off personality. out of her reach has done an excellent job of creating engaging characters and creating an amazing tone that reflects those characters within it.
Anyone who is a fan of dramatic and mysterious stories will love this one. It has just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you guessing and engaged the entire time. Check it out, you definitely won't be sorry!
