ouis ran a hand through his unkempt hair, feeling distressed and useless. He stood near the glass window, trying to take a peek in between the closed blinds, but to no avail. He rested his forehead against the cool glass and closed his eyes, a tear trickling down his cheek.

Usually, lots of the One Direction fan-fiction stories that you read are based on some type of romantic relationship. But it's always nice to have a taste of something different - the bond between a brother and a sister. notweirdbutunique expresses this to the best of her ability in her touching story, How to Exchange a Life.

Louis Tomlinson had always had an overall cheerful life - things with the band and its members were going smoothly, he had the perfect girlfriend, and from what he knew, his family was doing fine. But, in a sudden, tragic accident, everything he ever cared about crumbled instantly. His loving sister, Charlotte, was one of the victims of the crossfire shooting, and had fallen in a coma on her way to the hospital.

To start off, the imagery in this story is unbelievable. The picture in my mind was vivid, and I could visualize each moment - something that I always look for in a story that made it all the more breathtaking. Now, it wasn't one of those on-the-edge-of-your-seat, thrilling stories, but it left you wondering what the author meant by the title, and the subtle foreshadowing that occurred throughout the story made you curious to see what was going to happen next. It was written in a smooth, even tone, and the fact that it was written in a third-person point of view made it all the more appealing and fascinating to read.

So, while it wasn't about a fluffy romantic relationship, the author truly did show the unbreakable bond between two siblings, and - despite the circumstances - how they would always be there for each other. This story is a complete one-shot, with 10 comments, 15 recommendations, and 67 readers. I would recommend this to anybody who isn't looking for a particularly happy story, but is willing to follow through the spectacular story of a sister's coma, and a brother's fight to save her.
