The first time, he was hit by a car. He was thirteen years old and playing baseball with his brother, because the Yankees were his favorite team. He pretended to be Babe Ruth and went to catch the ball in the street, except a car ran him over.

On average, over 150 thousand people die every day from diseases, car accidents, and everything in between. All over the world people lose their lives and many times, there is nothing that could have been done to stop it. The pain and suffering surrounding the departed’s loved ones serve as a painful reminder that death is always waiting.

Death is something no one can escape. It is an ominous figure that haunts each individual, always lurking around every corner. Death hides behind the ladder that hasn’t yet been made stable. Death sits in the passenger’s seat of the car that is moving a little too fast. Death is everywhere and it is inescapable, but Rhett has slipped out of death’s grasp over and over again.

Rhett has been hit by a moving car, fallen off a roof, and had many more encounters with death, but even though Rhett cannot die, he cannot escape death. Death is still surrounding him, and it takes those that he loves, leaving him pained and heartbroken. Rhett cannot die, but death is still there.

The Man Who Couldn’t Die is a brilliant work of original fiction, written by pelican park. The prose is elegant, while also moving at the perfect pace. In just the first few chapters, it becomes clear that the story has a deeper meaning beneath its words, which is one of my favorite things about it. The Man Who Couldn’t Die is more than just entertaining; it teaches a lesson that everyone must one day learn.
