MM Reviews: Looper

Title: Looper
Author: Fair
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Romance | Adventure | Fantasy
Rating: PG-13

The phrase "cheated death" gets passed around easily if someone steps off a kerb at the wrong time and a car swerves in front of them, narrowly avoiding them just by a millimetre. Same goes for if a person gets into an accident and they miraculously survive despite the odds that are stacked against them. When things like this happen, if the person is religious they thank their God for saving them and if they aren't, they believe they're alive through a stroke of luck.

But what if their deaths were prevented by a Looper?

Fair presents us with the idea of Loopers who watch over humans and spring into action whenever someone who is their mark isn't supposed to die but finds themselves in a situation that calls for their assistance – more commonly known as guardian angels in layman's terms.

Within the first chapter, we're introduced to a Looper named Althea who loses her mark and seeks to place the soul of her mark into another body – something which we later find to be against the rules. The following chapters show her journey to do what she believes she must, despite any repercussions that might come her way. Although six chapters might not seem that much, each reveals more of the Looper world to the reader, something which is vital for the story.

Both the writing and the idea compliments each other greatly, something which Fair can only be commended over. So if you're interested in a totally unique idea, Looper is the story for you.
