Broken Lives
Sometimes things happen in life which are truly heartbreaking, and although we seek to find out exactly why things like that happen, we almost always never find the answer that we're looking for. Often not finding the answer can ruin lives as the person can become so obsessed with finding the answer that they neglect other aspects of their life, but the thing that can ruin a life more is if the heartbreaking tragedy occurs close to the heart.
Broken Lives explores that topic with a five year old boy called Luke. The only chapter of the story is centred around the tragedy that occurs between Luke and his mother, with the very first line of words setting an upsetting tone already. It's written almost like you would hear a child talk, which is effective towards the reader and ultimately makes the impact more drastic.
Comprised of just under five hundred words, Broken Lives is a short snippet of a senseless tragedy that fills you with anger and sadness because it's something that you can just envision happening to someone you know. Death The Angel's writing ability with this story is fantastic as she's able to grasp a child's train of thought and applied it so well.
If you're looking for something sad and touching, Broken Lives hits that criteria perfectly. All it takes is five minutes to read but those five minutes will make you feel so much emotion. It's truly an unmissable read.
