“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”

Sometimes the past holds on to people with the tips of its fingers... and sometimes it wraps both arms around a person until it makes it hard to breathe.

Pure is a lot like that, because no matter what Kyle seems to do he can't shake Ben - Ben who made him feel so, so dirty. Not even when he's with his new boyfriend Cooper.

Really all Kyle wants is to be clean because even though Ben is gone, he isn't completely gone - he's still lingering in the back of Kyle's mind, and the filth he left behind still plagues Kyle, still follows him every day.

The sensational thing about this story is that it manages to get under your skin at just the right angle, and has the potential to make a reader feel like they themselves are suffering, because Mogar has the power to make characters relate to people in ways you can't even imagine.

Pure takes you softly by the hand and creates a journey with the characters, down, down, down, and then up again, like a rock sinking deep into the pit of your stomach, right up until the end when it hits an inspiring crescendo that just might make you feel hopeful again.
