Evander Kent is a four year old boy whose mother just died in an accident.

Brian Haner Jr is a musician with a hugely popular band and a wife.

Now EJ needs his father.

As a rock and roll legend, the inevitability that Brian Haner Jr would have fathered an unknown child is almost certain.

When Evander Kent's mother is killed and he is sent to live with his father Brian, their relationship is frosty at best. Evander yearns for the 'father' he has spent the few years of his life knowing, Brian simply wants to restore a balance to his crumbling world once again.

And yet, their love grows with each passing day, forming a unique bond between father and son that neither of them has experienced before.

And with the looming threat of Evander’s grandparents wanting to move him as far away from his father as they can, is the only reason the pair of them are becoming closer is because they truly don’t want to be separated for a second time?

Chocolate Eyes is a wonderful slice of family life that gives a thoughtful look into the sacred male bond shared between father and son, sprinkled with a dusting of romance, comedy, heart-breaking misery and care.

And uniquely, Brian is taken from the traditional role of rock and roll bad boy, and placed in a much more caring and tender position- one that is seldom used within Avenged Sevenfold stories.

PoeticMess’s writing makes the heart weep with fondness for the characters, and at each turn and twist of the chapters, brings the reader so far into the scene that the emotions felt seem much too real to have come from written words.

Something truly magical has been born here in this story, and I suggest that anyone who wants to fall in love with something so deeply and madly that they cannot comprehend how they did it, should go and read Chocolate Eyes.
