MM Reviews: It's All Alright

Author: heroes.
Type: Fan Fiction
Rating: PG-13

There's something about reading a story that focuses on childhood, but it's another thing altogether to read something that focuses solely on fatherhood. With many children now raised with just one parent, there's something realistic buried within the words that heroes. writes. The struggle to raise a little child, who is solely dependent on you, is a daunting task for any, and in It's All Alright, she portrays it beautifully.

Oli Sykes is a single father and has to worry about raising his son in the right way like every other parent, but unfortunately for him, his son is not like every other son. Cameron, at the age of two, has not uttered a single word and for any parent, that would be worrying, and rightly so Oli is worried.

It's All Alright tackles the journey that Oli and Cameron make after a diagnosis that quite literally changes their lives forever. The emotion pours from the words as the piece is read, and despite being one single chapter of over 3,000 words, the oneshot is a brilliant read. There's nothing quite like seeing little snippets of a family life, bits that would normally be hidden away from prying eyes, as well as experiencing an overprotective father who loves his son no matter what.

heroes. adds morsels of humour in the situations, something which makes the piece stand out more and leave a lasting impact long after reading. This is one story that should not be skipped over.
