I tightened my hand around her mp3 player while I looked outside the window. Winter had come and December’s air was cold enough to make me sick. The night sky was always beautiful but that night it was even more amazing. It was a starless night and I was alone. I was once loved and yet there I was, possibly unloved.

Mia is mysterious. With a devil-may-care attitude and looks that kill, she catches the attention of our narrator from the get-go. With eyes and ears only for Mia, Faith struggles to connect with the other members of the gang that she runs with, so much so that she doesn’t notice the injuries of the people in her makeshift family. Everything she sees seems to remind Faith of the first-in-command and the pain that she is currently putting Faith through. Lie upon lie keeps piling up and Faith is left to pick up the pieces as Mia continues on a destructive path.

As the story progresses, we see Faith without Mia, but her mind is constantly searching for the girl that leaves constantly for a man who does nothing to help her. Everyday objects remind Faith of Mia, and it even seems that the gang – the family that they created – is a constant reminder too. Although this story is still developing and unfolding , the story poses several potential ways of completing and part of that mystery is what makes Faith and Mia’s story so interesting.
