Title: StayEveryone has that one person they lean on when times are hard for them. That one person they can call in the middle of the night to talk to. That one person who will pack up and leave that very night if the need is there. Stay revolves around this very relationship between Hayley Williams and an unnamed gentleman she calls in the middle of the night when her boyfriend, Chad Gilbert, leaves her. Told through this unnamed character’s point of view, Stay is proof that sometimes what you need the most has been standing in front of you, waiting to be noticed, before you ever realized you needed it.
Starting with a middle of the night phone call, the story traces the thoughts of this man as he realizes Hayley is calling him very late at night. When she tells him she needs him to come to California, he does not hesitate to pack up his bags and make the journey to her place. His thoughts are emphasized well, depicting a friendship that has lasted, despite its long distance nature, thanks to random meet-ups and conversations on the tour bus late at night. In the end, this man and Hayley realize their friendship is far more than friendship and make a decision that should have been obvious to them the entire time.
Author bullets are hailing. is, without a doubt, utterly skilled in the departments of romance and emotion. In only two chapters, she captures the beauty of years of friendship and the intensity of heartache and rebirth. The reveal at the very end of the story brings it all together in a very sweet, lovely moment that lets the reader know that these two will be able to overcome this obstacle together and finally, finally find true love with one another.
