A Perfect Beginning is another installment in the Hayliver series developed by bullets are hailing. and is, without a doubt, my favorite one of the lot. Set during New Year’s Eve, it follows Oli as he tries to make the night perfect for longtime girlfriend Hayley Williams. As usual, not only are Oli and Hayley portrayed as absolutely lovable and the perfect-if-odd couple, but the story marks a huge milestone in their relationship and, thus far, the largest one they have come to.

After surprising Hayley by showing up for her birthday, Oli attends a New Year’s Eve party thrown by record labels Fueled by Ramen and Decaydence. He is quickly revealed to be extremely nervous, nearly having an anxiety attack over a crooked tie, and is watching the time nervously—it is explained he has a huge surprise for Hayley that he wants to unveil. A nice touch are the added cameo appearance of Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco, who is talking with Hayley when Oli catches up to her and leads her away for his special surprise on the rooftop of the building. The moment that follows is absolutely sweet and perfect in every way.

This installment really puts Oli in a romantic light, showing how far he would go to give Hayley the most beautiful surprise possible on one of the biggest nights of the year. When bullets are hailing. sets her mind to writing an adorable story about Hayliver, she succeeds with flying colors every single time. A Perfect Beginning is flawless in every aspect, from Oli’s inner thoughts to the gorgeous descriptions, and anyone looking for that perfect “aww” moment needs to add this to their reading collection.
