Green Haven

Title: Green Haven
Rating: PG-13
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Mystery | Horror

Green Haven began with a nightmare. A nightmare that has brought the protagonist to attend therapy most of his life in search of ways to repress the fears he has had every night. The pursuit of solutions to his problem was left unaided and unanswered despite the fair amount of sessions he had with his therapist. It was until one night that his wife had heard him say the words, "Green Haven" in his sleep that he was able to finally find the answers he sought out for all his life.

Readers will immediately be drawn in the story as the protagonist goes through his nightmare. They will be brought deep in the story and feel like they’re the protagonist who is going through the same experience –and it is quite an experience, all right. In this nightmare, he is strapped in a gurney and is experimented on by men in frightening masks and women in nurse uniform. Without knowing it, the protagonist uses his powers to escape but unfortunately kills several who he subconsciously thinks might hurt him. From the beginning till the end, the readers will be shocked by how fantasy can actually become a reality to the protagonist. His nightmare that was once believed to be fiction is something actually real and has become a significant part in his life.

This one-shot written by Queen of Suburbia is a beautiful telling of a man misunderstood and mistreated by people who cannot accept who he is on the inside, and although this man has had a horrible past, with time and patience he has learned to accept himself.

With that being said, I truly recommend this story to anyone that would like to read a story of self-acceptance and a bit of supernatural in it as well.
