MM Reviews: Running Scared

Author: Hayleyisbored
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Tragedy | Teen
Rating: PG-13

Imagine a world where having children isn't a choice that many people are allowed to have. It might seem ideal in one light where the world doesn't become over-populated and that the children who are born can definitely have loving parents, but unfortunately there's a much darker side to the prohibition of children. Thankfully a world like that doesn't exist, right?

Wrong. Amelia Freeman lives in that world, one where most women don't get the option of having children and both men and women are afraid to live their lives fully. The dystopian society that she lives in, a city called The Community, is strict to the point of menacing and unfortunately for her, she's got only one thing on her mind: to survive. Accompanied by her neighbour Grahame Elliot, the twelve chapters that currently comprise Running Scared are what sets the stage for an even bigger story than it already is.

Hayleyisbored has created a world that can strike fear into the reader's heart for the characters, a skill that you can't help but admires. With practically each chapter keeping readers on the edge of their seat, wanting to know what's going to happen to the duo, there is nothing that isn't brilliant about this story. From the way the author writes, to the way feelings is evoked from the reader, Running Scared is one that should be on many people's reading lists.

Special thanks to safe bet. and house of cards. for editing!
