MM Reviews: Ubiquitous

Title: Ubiquitous
Author: kitsch
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Romance | Teen
Rating: PG-13

Summer is often a time when new friends are made as many people travel to different places and do things that they normally wouldn't do, such as talk to new people. Of course, new friends leave the door open to a potential new love. A lot of people like the idea of a summer love, and with stories like this one, who wouldn't?

Ubiquitous features Red as a barista and Blue as customer - two people who do not know each other outside of the buying and serving of drinks. But the thing is through these interactions, Red has developed a care for Blue as they see each other every day during summer.

With just over eight hundred words, Ubiquitous takes the reader though Red's thoughts, as the narrator, of Blue as the summer goes on and up to the point where he wants to take their talking to the next level - where instead of just conversing to take Blue's order, they actually talk. kitsch has an ability to make such a cute, short story span over an entire summer without the need to know more than she's showing. As the characters are introduced as Red and Blue, the reader grows fond of those nicknames, much like the characters do themselves, which just adds to her ability to make the reader connect with the oneshot.

Simple and easy to read, Ubiquitous is a nice story to have on a reading list for when there are two minutes spare that can be filled with a nice read. Even with summer ending, it remains a cute piece.

Special thanks to nearly witches. and silent hearts. for editing.
