If you're currently looking for a completed, short, and original fiction story that keeps its readers on the edge of their seat, look no furtherPeripeteia is the story for you!

Sometimes, we’re given the upper hand in life. Others… well, we’re not always so lucky then. Peripeteia shows the sides of two different beings in their own fight to be the victorious race. The focus of this story is set on two men (or, as they're known in the story, a Daywalker and a Nightling) by the names of Valcar Accellir and Igne Cincinnulus, respectively. The ancestors of these beings have been at war with each other for generations because of one God's jealousy, and now, with the Nightlings acting as slaves and troops for the Daywalkers, things have been pushed too far. One Nightling is more than willing to take a stand against the brutalities and injustices that the Daywalkers have bestowed upon his people, no matter how dangerous his mission may be.

The world created for Peripeteia is defintely creative and unique in its own way. How the people are constructed and given their backgrounds in the form of a history lesson in the very beginning helps bring it together quite a lot when looking at the big picture as a whole. Valcar and Igne's personalities are well-suited for them, especially when factoring what race each comes from. Apteryx's words easily put a gloomy and dark description over the world and show what generations of building tension can do to people.

Admittedly, Peripeteia is a little difficult to follow in the beginning, but once you start to understand what all of the different pieces of the puzzle means, you’ll fall in love with the plot and the characters almost instantly. It does leave a little to be desired, but for a completed short story, it does bring together all of the elements that it should in order for it to truly be considered successful. Reading it through a second time definitely helps if you still find yourself a bit confused at the end, and, of course, like the understanding author he is, Apteryx is also more than willing to offer a little more insight to any questions he receives! It's clear to see that a lot of thought and effort was put into creating this story, and no doubt it deserves more attention than it has received thus far.

Not everyone may seem like a hero to you, but we’re always the hero of our own story.
