MM Reviews: Brooms

Title: Brooms
Type: Original Fiction
Genre: Comedy | Drama | Fantasy
Rating: R

Writing about magical beings has become increasingly popular and it's no surprise that many Mibbians have adopted this into their own stories. There's something intriguing about writing about a character who has abilities unique to the everyday human, and it's refreshing when a reader can immerse themselves into a life that is far more complicated than their own, just so that they can feel better about their own lives. With Halloween fast approaching, a story about a teenage witch is surely one that will appeal to readers!

Brooms centres around a young witch called Sophie Barrett. She has a familiar called Phil and a mother who is her mentor. Life is as normal as it can be for a witch, until one day she returns home and discovers a teenage vampire standing in her bedroom, unwelcome. Tinged with humour and the right amount of teenage attitude, Brooms is a story that is beginning to showcase the friendship between the two as they deal with being magical beings in a non-magical world.

With an author who has a way with words, this story is one that engages the reader with the journey the characters will be taking without being too serious. There is bickering between the two that is typical for teenagers, and she has crafted a different type of magical world that has rules that aren't normally observed in others. Sophie comes across as an average teenage girl who goes to school and deals with the minor issues that affect her life, but being a witch makes it obvious that there's going to be more for her to deal with.

Indigo Umbrella has crafted this cute story that is sure to be full of adventure and comedy for readers to enjoy together. So give it a try, just in time for Halloween.

Special thanks to losing control and Audrey T for editing.
