For Lizzy Lane, her last wish was to see everything in the universe. After being diagnosed with brain cancer and told she only has one year to live, she boards the SS Voyager for a one-way trip to a new planet, followed by her sister Flora. Though Lizzie insists she doesn’t want to seek any treatment, Flora insists, and brings along a neurologist, Oli, who befriends Lizzie and begins to treat her with an experimental drug. Between making new friends, playing matchmaker for her sister and their old neighbour, Callaghan, and sneaking off to get doses of her medication, Lizzie’s life of the spaceship is anything but boring.

At only 6 chapters, Voyager is only just getting started, but already draws readers in and leaves them wanting more. decay has written an amazing story that, even though the main character has a terminal illness, is anything but your typical “cancer” story. Each character has a distinct personality and makes the reader root for their well-being. Add in flawless world building and wonderful descriptions, this isn’t a story you want to miss out on.
