Lily is a lady-in-waiting to her best friend, and queen, Agnes, or as the kingdom knows her Queen Angelique. She is naive to the issues going on outside of the kingdom walls, that is, until she runs into an old friend of hers from the past, Alec. Alec knows all of the horrors going on in the town that he lives in all thanks to the Queen, who has done nothing to help them, and the only thing he wants to do is bring her down.

Each chapter delves into the fact that even those you care about isn't always what you think of them to be, that those who are your friends and family have secrets of their own.

Both of the authors have brought the characters and the setting alive with each chapter that they write.
