“Superheroes are just villains who like to play pretend.”

In a toss-up between superheroes and supervillains, the heroes will almost always take the spotlight. Everyone wants to read about the triumphs of the good guys, but what about the trials of the bad guys? They are often left in the background, with everyone forgetting that maybe there is a reason why they are “bad”; maybe something tragic in their past that caused them to take on the villain persona.

Blaze focuses on the life Genevieve La Roux, more commonly known as Blaze, who lives in a world that has embraced the existence superheroes ever since babies started to be born with special abilities. Blaze was not one of these babies, however, and she spent her childhood days wishing that she was. But when the superheroes in her neighbourhood make her life worse instead of better, the veil is ripped from her eyes and she sees them for who they really are.

With only three chapter, cassiopeia; writes a short but action packed story. Blaze takes the reader into the past of a villain to show that sometimes, they aren’t all bad, they just encountered a series of events that forced them to take on this new role. With an unexpected, exciting ending, Blaze is a story that will capture your attention and make you want to keep reading, even after it finishes.
