Featured Story: Lay Me Down

There is no doubt that The Avengers films are widely loved on Mibba, and it's safe to say that the individual members who have their own films out are well-loved too. Captain America is one of them, though many might argue that his films are stolen by none other than Bucky Barnes, who eventually becomes the Winter Soldier. Lay Me Down is a story that is set during the first Captain America film, long before Bucky becomes the Winter Soldier and Cap joins the Avengers. The author, legacy ., has given more insight into her story below!

Give us a brief summary of Lay Me Down.

It's basically a story between Bucky Barnes and an OC. It's currently based in the 1940's, rather than the Avengers/Winter Soldier era; although it was originally my idea to transition to that time, but I've had so much lovey feedback that I'm thinking of keeping it during the war era of CA. Anyway, an actual summary - Lay Me Down is the story of Bucky Barnes and Katherine Davis (a scientist with the American military). It's in the very early stages, but I think it's clear that a romance is where I'm headed with it.

What's the inspiration behind this story?

I just had a week where I just binge watched some Captain America and Avengers movies. I've always loved Bucky and how Sebastian Stan portrays him. I hadn't written anything on Mibba in a while, and I thought this would be a fun way to get into writing again.

Is there a meaning behind the title?

Well, it's the title of a song by a band called The Fortunate Ones, who are a wonderful Newfoundland duo. The song is about a girl whose love has gone to war, and she's waiting to hear if all is okay with him. This is a live video. And I'm sure the fate of Bucky and Katherine is echoed in the song

What's your favourite thing about Lay Me Down?

Oh goodness... That's a hard one for me. I think how easy it is to write, maybe? There are sometimes gaps between updates cause of life, but once I sit down to write a chapter, it comes really easily.

What was the most challenging thing about writing it?

I think getting all my facts straight in the universe. There's so much happening sometimes, that I want make sure that I haven't screwed the original story. Lol.

Do you ever experience writer's block while writing Lay Me Down? If so, how do you overcome it?

The last chapter I actually had a lot of trouble with. I'm really bad with trying to come up with small talk topics. I basically skipped to what I knew I wanted the outcome to be, and tried to fill in the blanks. Other times, I'll spend some time reading - either a book or other pics - if I just need a mental break, or inspiration.

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

Just thanks. It's an amazing and heartwarming feeling to know that there is at least one person out there who reads and enjoys your words. To know there's a group is an indescribable feeling. So thank you.

Special thanks to Audrey T and exploding boy. for editing.
