Up and Coming: Your History of Silence

There are no shortages when it comes to stories with romantic-based plots here on Mibba. However, with a diverse writer base here and with people who have had different experiences with love, it isn’t a surprise that you can find many original and exciting stories to read! Your History of Silence is a Good Charlotte fanfiction that revolves around a romantic relationship, but with a twist — Joel Madden has found the perfect girl, but he’s already in a relationship with her sister. Through descriptive language and believable characters, Lily Barnes has created a wonderful start to this story. I caught up with her to find a bit more out about this exciting piece of fiction!

Tell us a little bit about Your History of Silence.

Your History of Silence is a Joel Madden story about knowing who you are and standing up for what you believe in. The premise is that Joel has met a girl who can make all his band’s dreams come true, but he is too afraid to break up with her when he starts to have feelings for her sister, who is coincidentally dating Joel’s brother. The whole thing rings of What have I done and how on earth do I get out of it?

What was the inspiration behind Your History of Silence?

The story was inspired by the idea of “What if you met your soulmate, but you were already with someone else?” Inspiration also comes from the song “Brave” by Sara Barielles, because one of the main issues is that most of the main characters are afraid to be honest about what they want.

How long have you been writing Your History of Silence?

I’ve been writing Your History of Silence for about three months now. I try to update all five of my stories at least once a week, so I’m not as far into this story as I’d like to be. I have big plans for it, though!

Do you have any other stories that you think people might enjoy?

I try to make all my stories different from each other, so I’m not sure which of my stories Your History of Silence readers would also enjoy. If they like the PG-13 rating, they might also like my story, Somewhere Only We Know, which is about a girl sending letters to a guy who thinks she’s someone else. Or, for people who like darker plots, Lost Myself Again or As We Fade in the Dark might be good options, as both are stories about fighting your inner demons.

What is your favourite thing about Mibba?

My favorite thing about Mibba so far is how friendly everyone is. It’s one of the few websites I’ve found that live up to being “a hate-free environment.”

Do you have any favourite stories on Mibba?

I’ve found several Bucky Barnes stories that I absolutely adore. My favorite is Hell Bound by holtzmann.

What would you like to say to anybody who reads your stories?

To anyone who reads my stories, I just want to say THANK YOU! :D *hugz*. Actually, in all seriousness, I just appreciate anyone enjoying my stories and taking the time to recommend or comment. It means the world to me that I can make someone happy with the things I write.

And finally, if you could pick only one book to read for the rest of your life, what book would you choose and why?

I’m sure you get this all the time, but this is a really hard question. I think that I would probably have to say… um... Brisingr by Christopher Paolini. I literally couldn’t function for a week after I read it because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and it’s been all I can do not to reread it a million times since then. So...yeah. :)

Special thanks to losing control. and Audrey T for editing!
