Featured Story: Getting Surreal

Although My Chemical Romance is no longer around, they still have a massive following here on Mibba, which means that there will always be fanfiction that feature the members of the band. Getting Surreal is one of these stories. Set around the time of Revenge, this story follows the band as they find a new guitar tech and head out onto tour. Blank.Canvas is the author of this story and is here to tell us a little more about it!

Give us a brief summary of Getting Surreal.

Frank Iero impulsively fires his guitar tech right before Taste of Chaos and Warped Tour 2005, and this is the story of the girl he gets to replace him and the relationships she builds with the band while on tour with them.

What made you start working on this story?

I was in search for a good fic involving Mikey Way, but I just couldn't find any that were enjoyable for me to read, so I decided to write my own.

Do you have a least favourite character?

Not so much that I hate the character, but I just find it hard to fit him in and generally like him least in the fic. That would probably be Bob.

How long have you been working on Getting Surreal?

I believe I started writing it up in mid-February this past year and I think I got up to ten chapters through before I worked up the gumption to start posting.

Do you have any pre-writing habits you have to do before you can write?

Not really. The only thing I think I consistently do before I write is probably just reread the previous chapter or two to get my head in the story line.

What led to the title choice?

"Getting Surreal" is actually the name of a song by The Fratellis, my favorite band - it's one of my favorite songs off their new album. I've actually been dropping references to the band all throughout my story.
