Fast Fiction: Fan Fiction

Fanfiction is a favourite among most writers – and it’s easy to see why! Taking your favorite character, band member, or ship and transporting them into a world of your creation or writing them in situations they may not normally find themselves in has a certain appeal to many people. The opportunities and characters are endless when writing this type of story, as shown by this week’s featured stories!

Drooling Plasma puts a dramatic spin on a character of a normally funny cartoon. Set in the Rick and Morty universe, this story looks at the emotions and thoughts going through Rick’s mind during one of his many states of inebriation. For those who are familiar with the show, this story is a complete 180 degree turn from the usual comedy and shows a different side of the character that is rarely seen.

Continuing with the theme of love, Roses brings the reader into the Vampire Diaries, featuring the ship of Klaroline. The story takes place on Valentine’s Day, sending the characters into an alternate universe where the characters end up together. It is written in such a way that even if you aren’t familiar with the characters, you can still appreciate the love that is written between these two.

I Know It’s Hard Sometimes is a story that features the band Twenty One Pilots. This band gained a giant fan base as fast as they rose to fame, and there is no shortage of stories featuring the duo. This particular one focuses on the friendship between Tyler and Josh, and the support they show each other in times of fragile mental health. The descriptions show how anxiety can affect people, and that sometimes even the support of the best of friends isn’t able to pull someone out of it.
