Genre Focus: War

Although war can be harrowing to read about, it can also provide stories filled with emotion and the strength of the human race. As such, it is a genre that enjoys a good following on Mibba. This week’s Genre Focus showcases a few of those beautifully-written war stories by some of Mibba’s best talent.

All of the Embers Fell

When you don't expect it, the introduction of war can come alongside a moment of sheer panic, a few seconds where time seems to stand still and nothing seems to be moving. For the narrator in ayre.tyler's story, this is the case when bombs fall on the city, leaving the everyday people thrown into a state of complete chaos.

Freedom

The post-war haze is the subject of warszawa's short story — namely the exiting of the last few Russian soldiers from Polish soil. After seeing the train off, Michał goes to see his old friend, Mr. Wrzesiński — a shopkeeper with a five-digit tattoo that links his own history with that of World War II.

The World With Nothing in It

Struggling to survive when the world has been brought to its knees can be impossible on your own. But in this story, isak valtersen shows the difficulties that come along with navigating your way through a wasteland all while trying to keep a relationship from teetering over the edge.

Kafir

While many choose to write about the more well-known sides of war, raja sahara chooses to write about wars in the Middle East through the eyes of two different young men — one who embraces everything thrown at him and the other who views things in a far more realistic manner.
