Mibba's Dream Journal Challenge

Is writer's block haunting you? Have you spent countless hours searching for word and picture prompts that could get you writing? Have you tried just about everything to get inspired?

What would you do if I said you could come up with the most remarkable ideas and all you'd have to do is catch a few hours of sleep? This month's Mibba Magazine writing contest will help you do just that.

The Dream Journal Challenge - going on between July and August 15th - gives you the chance to collect your dreams, then write about them! To enter, all you need to do is keep a dream journal - writing in it as often as you remember your dreams - and once you're done, let those dreams serve as inspiration for a story or poem.

Ideally, participants will spend two weeks recording their dreams and then two weeks working on their story or poems. This means you'll have a month to complete and submit your entry. Participants are encouraged to keep their dream journals on Mibba (posting each entry in Mibba's blog section) and to keep track of their journals by linking to them from a post in the contest thread (like this). At the end of the contest, a separate article will be posted to the Mibba Magazine that will feature some of the most interesting dream journal posts.

As usual, all story and poem entries need to be submitted by the contest deadline - August 15th - and all entries must follow Mibba's writing guidelines and rules. Each participant can submit up to one story and one poem. Original fiction as well as fan fiction is welcome, but no prewrites will be accepted. The authors of the top three stories and top three poems will be featured in an article and have their work promoted on Mibba's Facebook page, the Mibba Magazine's Tumblr, and Mibba's Twitter account. In addition to that, the #1 winner in each category (poem and story) will have opportunity to be guest judges for next month's contests.

"But how can you expect me to make a story when I don't even remember my dreams?" you ask? The Mibba Magazine is prepared to help you learn to remember your dreams and keep your dream journal with a series of dream-related articles we'll be putting out in the upcoming month. Already, Kurtni - a Mibba admin and the Mibba Magazine contest coordinator - has posted the Remembering 'What Dreams May Come' article. Be sure to take a look; it has lots of great tips and ideas to help you out, as well as interesting information on how your dreams work.

If you have any questions, please post them in the comments section of this article or PM a Mibba Magazine member.

Good luck and happy writing!
