Suspend a Moment in Time

Some moments are meant to last forever. And some moments only feel like forever.

When writing a story, we sometimes breeze through events so that we can move along a plot or reach a specific end. Rarely do we see stories that take the time to really explore and expand on just one very specific moment and give us all the details. In On My Sleeve's Suspend a Moment in Time, he asks Mibba's writers to do just that.

The contest, launched less than a week ago, ask that writers create a story that focuses on one moment. This can be done by creating a story that only describes this one moment, by having a character that can't get past one specific incident in their lives, by recreating a significant point in a story from various points of views or with various outcomes or catalyst... How you build your story and where you take it is up to you.

Silence Is Golden

When writing a story, you can say a lot by saying a lot. But while dialogue can be an important tool in story telling and character development, narration can also be a great asset. Through narration and description you can stealthily give readers a lot of information about a story, setting, or character insight. And developing unique, entertaining, or interesting narrative style can open any writer up to a new audience and a lot more readers.

Charlotte sometimes.'s Silence Is Golden contests asks readers to take the chatter out of their story-telling and write a piece that's all narration. In this contest, you're given a chance to hone your descriptive skills and challenge yourself to create new ways of expression.
