Weekly Featured Contests

The first contest of the week is about plain and simple love, while the second contest features a certain Doctor who meets the world of Disney, and the third contest is all about a community challenge!

Love // Writing Contest

Love is a common topic that many people experience within their lives, whether it be them falling in love, being in love, learning to love others or even yourself. It is also a topic that many people love to write about – either in a romance story or a story in a different genre. There's no denying that love is a popular topic to write about.

In paper airplanes.'s Love // Writing Contest, users are tasked with writing a story or poem that centres around love and nothing less. The first post states that she "don't care what it is, as long as it's about love" which keeps the boundaries expanded for users who wish to add a little something extra to their love story.

Entering this contest is as simple as going to the thread and posting a comment for the host to see that you're interested in writing a love story between now and the deadline – which is far away enough for users to be able to take their time in planning it, if that's a ritual you find yourself excelling with.

Doctor Who Meets Disney

silk tea.'s unique contest combines the worlds of Doctor Who and Disney together into one piece of creative writing. With the contest featuring a crossover, there's one thing that she stresses the most – the characters must stay in character. This means that whichever Doctor that a user chooses must resemble how the character was portrayed in the series, likewise when it comes to the Disney character.

Doctor Who Meets Disney is a contest where users can view the photos that the host has included in the first post and if they're interested in writing about that Disney character and the Doctor that they like hasn't been chosen already, they can write a quick comment claiming that slot before getting to work on their entry!

Mibba Big Bang

Many people know what NaNoWriMo is and participate in it every year when the time comes. Some people opt to participate in it with their own word count because 50,000 words in a month can be a hefty amount for most. So what if Mibba had its own challenge with a much more manageable word count? That's where the Mibba Big Bang comes in!

i saw sparks is calling users to her Mibba Big Bang contest where they can choose one of four roles to play within the contest: being a writer, being a beta, being an artist, or being a cheerleader. The idea is that the writers of the contest would be tasked with completing 20,000 words by the deadline which focuses around one central character; the betas would be for those who like the idea but wouldn't be able to complete the word count themselves and would prefer to help the writers when it comes to bouncing ideas, checking over their pieces for mistakes and just generally providing feedback for them; the artists would provide help in the form of promotion for the event as well as banners, layouts and other graphics for the writers; and lastly, the cheerleaders would be there to support the users who chose to participate in the challenge, as well as being on hand if they want to bounce ideas off of them.

Sound interesting? The thread provides more information on the challenge as well as all the details one would need in order to enter under their desired role.
