Featured Story of the Week: Fall of Rome

Fall of Rome is an amazing fan fiction featuring the ever-so-handsome Dylan O'Brien. In this week's Featured Story, we take a closer look at his fantastic work.

Give us a brief summary of Fall of Rome.

Fall of Rome is about a young girl named Eleanor, who is in a happy relationship with Dylan O'Brien. When he invites her out to visit him in LA, she thinks it's going to be a normal week of take-out, hanging out at the beach and cuddling, but it's far from that. Almost immediately, Dylan admits to an awful secret, and things spiral from there.

What inspired you to write this story?

I had the idea for this story for a long time, and 2013's NaNoWriMo finally gave me an excuse to sit down and write it.

How long have you been working on it?

I started it on November 1st and finished it a few weeks later. I have the whole thing written now, but I wait a bit between posting chapters on Mibba for editing and things like that.

How did you choose the title for this story?

I had the title saved on my phone for a while, and I thought it definitely fit what was happening with Eleanor and Dylan. It really just fell into place!

What is your favorite thing about writing Fall of Rome?

Dylan is my ultimate crush, so writing anything with him is just the bee’s knees. I had a blast writing him romancing El and having the two of them sort through their relationship.

What is the most challenging thing about writing it?

I'd say the hardest thing was dealing with Eleanor's struggle to try trusting Dylan again. I had to find a good balance between her falling for him and fighting their demons.

Do you write with an outline, or just wing it?

I had everything for this story outlined down to dotting all the i's and crossing the t's. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this story, and that made it a lot easier to write with the time crunch of NaNo!

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

Words could never express how much you all mean to me. I had a blast writing this story, so it means the world to me that anyone enjoys it. Every single comment, rec and subscription are like a present on Christmas morning, and getting notifications for this story makes me absolutely giddy! I am forever indebted to each and every one of you!
