Poem Types: Rhyme

A poem that falls under the rhyme category is one that doesn’t fall under any of the other poem categories, and also contains a rhyme scheme. A poem can rhyme, but not be a rhyme. Sometimes a poem can rhyme, but fit better as a ballad, sonnet, epic or any other type of poem.

Famous Poetry

In Time of Daffodils is a wonderful rhyme poem by E.E. Cummings. This poem beautifully illustrates that nothing is ever truly forgotten. The author uses flowers as imagery to show the way time passes and how things grow.

Acquainted with the Night is a deep poem by Robert Frost. This poem discusses depression and how the narrator deals with it in a beautifully written way. Frost uses the narrator’s surroundings as imagery to hint at the depression and does it beautifully.

Patterns is a beautiful poem by Amy Lowell. On the surface, it is a poem about a woman walking through a garden, but if you dig deeper, it is more than just that. It is a truly deep poem about a woman walking through life and all the trials and tribulations of life.
