Mibbian of the Week: sodapop curtis

sodapop curtis is an aspiring film director who enjoys fashion, photography and performance art. In this edition of Mibbian of the Week, we learn all about this awesome user!

When did you join Mibba and how did you find the site?

I joined almost six years ago during the Great Quizilla Migration of 2008. (At least that's what I affectionately call it.) After Quizilla drastically changed their site's layout and took away the creative features I loved, I saw more and more users switching to Mibba. Instantly, I was intrigued, so I decided to make a Mibba account as well, and here I am today!

What area of Mibba are you most active on?

Definitely the stories section. Original fiction is my favorite and fanfiction is my guilty pleasure. Specifically, I like to check out stories my friends recommend because I always trust their judgment.

What is your favorite thing about Mibba?

The fact that it's so much different than any other writing site I've seen. It's well designed and allows for creativity in so many different forms of writing. Not to mention I've found it's easier to get noticed and receive feedback on here than anywhere else. Basically, I appreciate that we're all writers here, so we share a collective experience and we know exactly how to critique each other in order for our writing to grow.

If you could change one thing about Mibba, what would it be and why?

Honestly, I can't think of much. The bugs are annoying sometimes, especially when pages take forever to load and comments are accidentally posted twice, but other than that, not much else bothers me!

If you had to describe Mibba to someone who had never used the site before, what would you say?

It's a creative writing community for authors where they can express themselves, share their work with others, and experience growth and inspiration.

Who is your Mibba soul mate?

Oh gosh, I don't even know if I have one. Over the years, I've been close with a few people. For right now, my favorite authors/the people I'm getting most feedback from are Ali (birds at my face) and Sophia (bullets.)

Is there anything you'd like to say to all the Mibbians?

Don't compare yourself to other writers and don't get discouraged if you aren't getting the recognition you know you deserve. Try to push yourself to write about things out of your comfort zone. Experiment with different ideas, but don't force it if it doesn't feel right. Most importantly, write for yourself and no one else.

Special thanks to Formaldehyde. and Katie Mosing for editing!
