Fan Fiction of the Week: End Up Here

End Up Here is an amazing fan fiction featuring Luke Hemmings of 5 Seconds of Summer. In this edition of Fan Fiction of the Week, we take a closer look at this wonderful story.

Give us a brief summary of End Up Here.

Honestly, End Up Here is just a story about young love. It touches on all of the normal subjects in dealing with love at such a young age, and also throws in a few other twists and turns due to the fact the one of the characters, Luke, is in an up and coming band about to break through into stardom.

What inspired you to write End Up Here?

I really needed a new project to spark my creative light again. I hadn't opened my Microsoft Word in almost two months, and I was at a point where I wasn't even sure if I was going to write anymore. Luckily I stumbled across something about the Soundwave festival in Australia and "Amnesia" by 5 Seconds of Summer. When I found out that the band was originally from Sydney, it clicked in my head and I had the urge to write again. It was also refreshing to write about something so new and out of my comfort zone.

How long have you been working on this story?

The idea of this story had been floating around for a week or so. After what felt like fifty versions of the first chapter, I finally decided on one and published it about a day or so ago.

What is your favorite thing about writing End Up Here?

The best thing about writing End Up Here is that the characters (the boys of 5 Seconds of Summer) are very different from the usual people I write about. My writing usually focuses on NHL players and the ages are usually in the mid-twenties, but now with this story, the main characters are eighteen and I feel like this story is much more free than anything I had previously worked on.

What is the most challenging thing about writing it?

The most challenging thing about this story is trying to learn the new characters and accurately portray their personalities while trying to make them not too immature, but also not as mature as the people I usually write about. Also, I usually try to incorporate something I can personally relate to into my original characters in the stories, but in this one, I have much more fiction and muss less relation to the main female, Rayne.

Have you ever experienced writer's block with this story? If so, how did you overcome it?

So far with this story I haven't hit that point, but I'm waiting for it. With every story I have ever written, even essays for school, I always come to a point after the story loses the fresh new ideas and it becomes one of the old stories. Usually when that happens, I take a little break and try to get some inspiration to finish it up.

Do you write with an outline, or just wing it?

I wing it. I have tried writing with an outline once or twice to keep things organized and neat, but I always ended up thinking of something better than I had written in the outline and go for the new idea. I feel like just getting it all out at once produces better things than constant editing and outlining.

Do you have any pre/post writing rituals?

Before I start writing, I usually snuggle up with a blanket, some tunes, and a cup of coffee or tea. During the writing, I chew about ten pieces of gum, and then after, when the chapter is finished I publish it, re-read it a few times to check for any typos that fell through, and then I start thinking about what's going to happen next. I try to keep the flow going as long as possible.

Is there anything you would like to say to your readers?

To all of my readers that have taken the time to check out this story or any other story I have written - Thank you so, so, so, so, much! Feedback fuels my love for the story and it really means a lot to me when I see people are enjoying what I write. Thanks so much for the support, you're all amazing!

Special thanks to Goddess_Of_Muse and nearly witches. for editing!
