Featured Contests

Let's have a look at this week's contests!

All Is Fair in Love and War

A contest all about love is exactly what we need, and deschanel has given us just that. Her All Is Fair in Love and War contest is a newly revived contest from Mibba's contest revival scheme and the perfect place for users to write about love in whichever shape or form they like - just so long as love is at the forefront of their entry! Loving one's self or loving another can be the topic of a user's entry, or an unconventional love could feature. It's entirely up to you!

With little rules and the ability to enter multi-chaptered pieces, participants who like to give themselves a challenge can even write a short story that documents much more than love. The deadline to enter is soon so don't dawdle!

Rating: any
Word Limit: more than 200 words, no more than 10 chapters
Prewrites: allowed
Exemptions: no slash

Deadline

To enter: 15th October

Now If We're Talking Body...

Keeping within the lines of love, bellamy blake's own contest fits the bill nicely! Now If We're Talking Body... is a contest that is designed to step out of the narrow confines of society's beauty standards and write about characters who have an acne ridden face, who have to shop in the plus size section, who have to wear glasses that aren't just for show. Characters who if you look at the media aren't normally represented, and even if they are portrayed they're mostly portrayed perfectly, which isn't what happens in real life. Reality has people wear glasses that actually fit them instead of being the 'cute' too-big-for-your-face style, and it has people plus sized that don't have their weight evenly proportioned. It has so many different types of people and this contest is daring authors to include characters who might be seen in their everyday life rather than in the narrowly selected media.

What's better is this contest wants them shown in a positive light, where there isn't the focus on them being plus sized, where the character doesn't get bullied for having bad acne. It wants characters to be shown positively despite their physical traits being different from the stereotypical protagonist. Let's break those stereotypes, Mibbians!

Rating: any
Word Limit: no minimum, no longer than a one-shot
Prewrites: not allowed
Exemptions: none
