Writing With: lonely girl.

lonely girl. is a downright honest writer. Jacqui mostly writes one- and two-shots that involve love in a dosage as raw as whiskey. A few of her memorable works are He Had the Biggest Smile and Daydream.

He Had the Biggest Smile

“It's an original fiction, inspired by the gif in the banner. I was scrolling through Tumblr and saw him, and knew that I had to write about him. So I did. Both of my characters are unnamed, however they were dubbed "Pinkie" and "Narrator" by Nikko (loius.). Pinkie is my favourite, he's the one that's being described by Narrator. He is what the story is about, and the inspiration, and I loved developing his character, even though it feels like I didn't; he was meant to be the way he was and I had little say in it. His outlook on the world and complete faith and love in Narrator captured my heart. He's someone that I'd like to know.”

This short read is a gorgeous description of a guy given from the perspective of his lover.

“[The writing style is] very different to how I'm used to writing, more of a stream-of-consciousness thing but with more of a directed approach and semblance of an actual story line. I feel like I really delved into Narrator's mind with it, and how despite his outer projection of himself being more of a "tough guy", he's very gentle and his feelings pour right out of him around Pinkie.”

Daydream

“I really wanted to write a story about Alex Gaskarth (from All Time Low) and Jenna McDougall (from Tonight Alive). I chose a song ("A Daydream Away") that could help inspire a plot, and put my fingers to keys. It fell into place once I'd written the first chapter, and I took it for a spin with the second, which then turned into two sequels, just so that I could explore their relationship and their personalities a little more.”

The two-shot is very unique seeing as it uses the second-person narrative, something not commonly seen or used. Jacqui made perfect use of the technique to tell the short tale of how the modern world romance is.

“I'm not sure whether I like Jenna or Alex better. They both have their downfalls really, but I do love Jenna's personality a tiny bit better and unravelling and fleshing her out was a fun task. Alex is more of that cliché ‘pining after the girl’ personality.

It has two sequels, and I've thought about adding a third as the last hangs in the balance. Due to the open ending, it's up to the reader to decide what happens to the pair, and whether they forgive Jenna for what she's done. “

As a three-year-old Mibbian, Jacqui finds inspiration through music, “and a cup of tea. The entire process can take me a couple of hours or a couple of months, depending on inspiration levels and such—you know how it is!”

Without a doubt, we all do! However, Jacqui manages the challenge quite easily with her plethora of descriptive and heart-warming stories.
