Featured Contests

Let's have a look at this week's contests!

Simplicity

One of the things about Mibba that keeps people interested is the fact that our stories, poems, blogs and profiles can all have a custom layout. It's a unique feature that many users always comment on when they list what they love most about the site, and many strive to create layouts for their stories and poems that mimic the theme of their story to really set the scene. Often, it works a treat, but do users put too much emphasis on layouts?

colibri wants to gets users to shed the layouts in her Simplicity contest. The task is simple: pick a prompt from the list provided and write either a short story or a poem based around it, just without a custom layout. So all users need to focus on is the writing rather than the appearance. Just think, all that time normally spent on the layout can now be spent on making the entry the best it can be.

The Fault of Me Before You

There's just something about heartbreaking novels that keeps readers crawling back to them time and time again. It could be the false sense of happiness that was created before it was ruthlessly ripped apart, or maybe the positive message that somehow had to be reaffirmed in an action or scene that made the reader cry their hearts out. Either way, they have an appeal that is undeniable.

Now the dalliance has started her The Fault of Me Before You Contest which is challenging users to write an entry that makes her feel as if her heart is being ripped out of her chest. With no other requirement, this allows users to write about anything their heart desires, as long as it is tragic. The host even offers examples if users aren't sure what she means, listing stories such as 13 Reasons Why, Me Before You and If I Stay for users to grasp the idea fully.

Just be warned, even authors can cry at their own tragic stories.
