Featured Contests

Let's have a look at this week's contests!

Cheer Up, Emo Kid

My Chemical Romance, Madina Lake, 30 Seconds to Mars, Fall Out Boy - all these bands bring back a wave of nostalgia for many Mibbians. With songs like "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", "Here I Stand", "The Kill" and "Thnks fr th Mmrs", they were the pinnacle of our teenage years. But who's to say their songs lose their standing? Even now, ten years after its release, "Thnks fr th Mmrs" is a well-loved reminder of Fall Out Boy pre-hiatus. So why not shine a light on these noughties songs?

Cheer Up, Emo Kid is a very aptly named contest hosted by exploding boy. that wants users to channel their inner emo and connect with the songs that came out almost a decade ago. She's included a list of bands for users to choose from, including the four mentioned above as well as classics such as Blink-182 and Sum 41, and will message each user a choice between two songs from their chosen band. Participants must pick one of those songs and write an entry inspired by it. As each band can only be picked twice, Mibbians are advised to join as soon as possible to be able to pick their favourite band.

Apocalyptic Love

Dystopian worlds are places where living can often be difficult and many people struggle to survive or even stay hidden if they need to. They're not the place most would think a ray of sunshine would appear, but sometimes it can't quite be helped. After all, no one asks to fall in love.

Apocalyptic Love is a contest that tasks its participants with writing a romance in a setting that doesn't share the love the characters feel. Whether the apocalypse is raging, or the world has changed into dark times, it doesn't matter to cassiopeia;, just as long as there's romance bubbling within the story. Good or bad, happy or sad, the romance need not follow the conventions - after all, the world isn't one that is all that conventional either.

Want to make the host cry? Want to make her shout in frustration because the characters are being too stupid? Then what are you waiting for? Join!
