Featured: Mibba's "Summer Smiles" Contest Winners!

The return of the Magazine's contests coincided with National Smile Month, and what better way to celebrate both than with a contest centred all around summer? After all, summer is known to be a time full of happiness and smiles as the weather turns warmer and there's a carefree atmosphere that settles. Mibbians provided their entries, which were all wonderful to read, but alas, there could only be one winner.

First place goes to Sunflower and the Lost Cat by Rosamarie. With lush descriptions that truly feel like summer and the cute and affectionate companion in the form of a cat, this piece encompasses the theme perfectly. There is nothing that warms the heart quite like animals in fiction.

In a very close second place is tabula rasa.'s piece, Summertime. It is a short piece that connects a relationship with the summertime, using description that is sure to elicit feelings of happiness onto the reader.

Whether summer is a season that is loved or abhorred, there is no doubt the feelings of hope and happiness that occur all round. For many, it is the time of holidays and back-garden barbecues underneath the warm sun. Both these entries truly emphasise that theme, and there is no doubt the other entries did as well! All of June's entries can be found in the contest thread, and Mibbians are free to check them out and do a little judging of their own. Be sure to let us know which were your favourites.

Special thanks to losing control and Audrey T for editing.
