Featured Contests

Let's have a look at this week's contests!

Chain It Up

Everyone has received a chain message before. Those annoying messages that predicted death or extreme bad luck if the recipient didn't pass it on were universal, and while most ignored them, some actually do pass them along, even if only as a 'just in case.' Yet it's hard to believe that there was ever any real substance behind them. After all, how could anyone know whether or not a recipient passed it on and if they didn't, how could they seek vengeance?

Still, as unbelievable as they often are, the dreaded chain message is still a phenomenon that persists to this day and little tea-pot; would love to see Mibbian writers spin on them. In the Chain It Up Contest, writers are asked to tackle the unusual topic of chain messages and turn it into a story. Whether you'd like to write about the origin of a specific chain message, the dire consequences of ignoring one, or something else entirely, this contest allows you to explore one of the internet's longest running conspiracy.

Darkest Curses

Curses are dreadful things and no one would ever wish to fall foul of one, but at the same time they can enthral people. Midas and his golden touch spring to mind whenever one mentions curses, and his was one that started bright and then turned to dark right before his eyes.

aliens. has listed twelve curses against each astrological sign in her Darkest Curses Contest. Participants are required to check out each curse and then choose one to write an entry about. Though there are only twelve different curses, each one will have a unique spin if it's chosen by more than one user, something which the host is surely looking forward to. With no other specifications, users are free to take their curse in whichever way they wish - give it a completely unexpected twist, if that's what seems fitting. All is accepted!
