Honestly, your comment just made my day. I'm so so glad that you enjoy my work (and I'm especially glad about my hobbit story because I've been really anxious about posting it). Thank you so much!! I'll try to update soon :] And thank you again, for recommending it! You're lovely!

Ah! I’m so excited, I’ll list films and some programs.

    Films:

    Amores Perros
    Arrancame la Vida
    Como Agua Para Chocolate
    El Crimen del Padre Amarro
    La Otra Familia
    Pan’s Labrynth
Tambien la Lluvia or Even the Rain (it was released for the American market under the title ‘Even the Rain’ so it might be easier to find under that.)
    The Motorcycle Diaries
    Rudo y Cursi
    Y Tu Mama Tambien
La Misma Luna or Under the Same Room (it’s another one that was marketed primarily for Latinos in the US)
    Ladron Que Roba Ladron
    El Infierno
    Voces Inocentes
    Maria Full of Grace

Hmm, I know that I’m missing some more that I really like, but I can’t remember them at the moment. I’ll jot them down whenever they come up to me and message them later on.

    Programs:

As for the shows, in Spanish language television, we don’t really have programming like English based programming does. We don’t have seasons or anything like that. Most of the programming is novelas (soap operas) and they run continuously (Monday-Friday) for a few months and then go away. I’ll list the ones that I really enjoy.

Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal
    La Patrona
    El Senor de Los Cielos
El Clon (there’s one that telemundo made and another one that the Brazilians made and then dubbed in Spanish, I personally enjoyed the Brazilian version more).
    Los Heroes del Norte
    Capadocia

Damn, it’s been awhile since I’ve watched novelas, so those are the only ones I remember. The ones I used to watch were from when I was little and I don’t think those are online. The movies are all top quality though, but I would suggest having tissues around for some of them. I know I always have a good cry!

Are you serious? That’s fucking ridiculous. It makes me angry how much money institutions make from students. There’s no reason why anyone should have to pay so much to learn. Ah! I just get to angry when I think about the fat pay check the high ranking university officials give themselves. You’ve definitely done your bit to finance your education. Two years adds up to a lot of money.
Haha that’s alright. I’m sure you’ll remember later on. I just like how fast and vivacious the accents are. Cuban’s talk really fast and sometimes, I must admit, I have trouble understanding everything they’re saying, but I like the intensity with which they speak. Colombian’s have that little umph in there as well. I love when my friends say berraco (which means bad ass), and the accent with which they speak. And then in Mexico the accents vary by county. People that live in the country have a much stronger accent, and they accentuate a few words more whereas people that are from higher up in social standings have a more posh, clean accent.
You should! There are a lot of great programs in Spanish. I have to recommend Capadocia. It’s a show that HBO made for their Spanish speaking audiences, and it deals with how drug cartels are corrupting high ranking politicians and the way the prison system is impacted by that. There are loads of other good ones. I could give you a list if you like.

That’s awesome! I have quite a few Colombian friends and watch some of their novelas so I love the slang they use and the manner of speaking. I agree completely with you about the Spanish accents. They’re harder to pronounce, and it might just be me, but I don’t particularly care for Spanish accents from Spain and from Argentina, for some reason they don’t sit well with me. But I love Colombian and Cuban accents, and the one’s from Mexico just because I’m biased haha

That’d be fantastic! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that there’ll be another update out.
That is weird, but I guess it makes sense that you liked the comradery that came with the studying leading up to the exam. I was never one for them though. I always stayed up all night and then would just crash afterwards. I remember one time I was to tired that I took a nap, but almost missed the exam so after that I was just so paranoid that I didn’t bother sleeping on nights before an exam.
2 or 3 more years? That’s madness! I could understand a year and a half, two at the most, but if you’re already fluent at it and have been (I’m assuming) writing it all throughout your academic career then you should be set to take the training to then go and teach it to foreigners. I bet they just make it so long because they want to make more money out of the students. That’s all they ever do. They make it hard to get the classes necessary for graduation so they can ensure people will keep paying tuition longer. You should! I’d love to see all those pictures of Belgium!
That’s what I’m saying! It’s fucking ridiculous. That is the point of them, but now they want to teach people about what the bible says regarding marriage and the roles that each person had to take, and the officials that we’ve seen haven’t been pleased that we’ve been “living in sin” for so long and one of them said that we needed to go confess ourselves. And I honestly just wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Thank you so much for your comment/support!! I do plan on continuing it so don't worry. :]
And you should definitely play Assassin's Creed. It's fantastic! Such a good storyline and everything.

Ah! I’m so excited, I just checked my emails and saw that you updated twice! This was the perfect thing to come home to after a long morning at work. Bah! I agree with you. There comes a point where the mind just has enough. I think that if we didn’t have to write all those lengthy papers and take exams, learning would be a more enjoyable pursuit, but alas, there’s always a paper to write or an exam to take and that leads to madness.
I’m glad someone agrees with me. Whenever I tell people that I’m going back to school to pursuit a different interest, they all look at me like I’m mad and make it seem like I’ve wasted my time, but they don’t understand that that was for me, for my own fulfillment. I agree with you, Gwen! I’ve also loved the experiences, they were all crucial to our development, and will be fond memories to look back on.
Traveling through Belgium sounds like it’ll be fun. I’ve heard a lot about beautiful zoos in the country and the lovely big cities it has. That’ll be fun! You already speak French so Spanish shouldn’t be too difficult. Well, I don’t know about the proper Spanish from Spain, but if you give the Latin American Spanish a go, you’ll breeze through it :) And the best part is when you start learning to curse. My personal favorites are the ways that Colombians and Mexicans curse. Colombians just have a little extra uumph. They’re peacocks. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it does in my head.
As for plans, I might head out to Mexico for a week or so, but we’re still debating on that since there’s been a larger drug cartel presence in the area where we’re from, and we’re not sure if it’s necessarily safe to travel there. But other than that, I’m running around trying to sort things out for my Catholic wedding, but so far everyone wants to make us take six months of classes and I’m not about to put myself through that. I figure that nearly two years of living in sin via legal marriage, should make it so those classes are unnecessary, but so far no one agrees with me.

Ah! Gwen, you’re a saint! Thank you! Thank you! Muchas gracias :)
I’m so very stoked now! I can’t wait to read those two updates. I know they’re going to be fantastic! And no, I’m not going to be taking any summer courses. I’m taking it off to let my brain have a nice little vacation from exams. I’m doing well. I’m glad to be done with my undergrad, even if it’s just a degree that isn’t really going to be worth anything. I’m looking at it as something I did for myself and not for money. But yeah, I’m doing well. I’m glad that summer’s here. I know that probably doesn’t make sense since we have year round summer weather, but there’s just something about the summer months that always gets me!
How are you doing? Any exciting trips through Europe?

    Ahh!
If I could give you a hug, I would! Your comment honestly just made my night! I'd been hearing from a few people that they weren't all that fond of my being so generous with the politics, but hearing you say that you enjoy that, makes me feel better :)
Anyways, thank you for that! And I hope all is well . . . and that you'll indulge us with some updates soon!

I just realized there might not be pinatas in Belgium.
Still, I'm betting birthday parties were rad without having to worry about cousins running off with all the candy!
My cousins always jacked my candy lol

haha yeah. Three hundred! And we still have more family in Mexico that didn’t immigrate over, and there’s the family over in Ireland, but we’ve only ever been in contact with my aunt Orla and recently my grandparents. But yeah, definitely a big family. I'm sure having a small family has its perks! You don’t have to worry about not being able to hit the piñata. That was always my concern growing up haha
    Thank you so much!
I had fun writing it, and now I'm gonna try to update a few more times. I'm eager to finish up The Thrill is Gone, and start on the sequels. :)

I don’t think it sounds weird, big families are a lot of fun. It’s great to have dozens of cousins that are around your age to do stuff with, but they’re also such a bummer sometimes. I remember for my quinceañera, we rented out the hall at the church we go to, and we were only able to invite 300 people, and some of the family got all upset over it. But it is rad, a little intrusive sometimes but rad nonetheless haha.
Ah! I hope you’ll have an update out soon as well. I’ve been itching to read more. The other day I was watching The Hobbit, and couldn’t help but remember your Lord of the Rings story, I do hope you’ll continue it :)
I'm definitely going to read that book then. Hopefully, I’ll be able to buy a copy and read it during summer break. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I hate seeing how the arts and music programs are cut at schools because they’re not as important as math and sciences. It’s like they’re purposely trying to stifle the creativity out of everyone, and standardize them to be a certain sort of person. It’s fucking frustrating. And I can’t even imagine how infuriating it must be to have put all that effort into your studies only to be told that while they’d like to hire you, they can’t afford it. Fuck it though. It’s their loss. You’re going to be one badass teacher!

It'll be over soon..... Goodness gracious Gwen I laughed way to hard from that. It's so foreboding and nefarious sounding. Like you are part of the Elves' Council talking about Sauron. It'll be over soon.
