To Understand

I am currently on vacation as of March 16th, but will return on March 20th and be able to reply to stuff around March 21st. See you guys then.

Once again, I'm going to be inactive for a while, which you've probably noticed by now anyway. I'll still be updating stories and talking to people occasionally, but I have had a lot of work to do these past few months, and will be busy preparing two huge academic events over the next six weeks or so (see latest journal for details). I'm really sorry I haven't been able to get on more, but I'll be back when I can, I promise.

I'm sorry that this profile isn't more organized. I'll fix it one day, I promise, but until then you'll have to put up with these paragraphs of babbling I have.

My name is Rachel. I'm sarcastic, boring, and quiet. And a bit contradictory to boot--I read Victor Hugo or Shakespeare and then turn right around and read slash. I love both the fairytale mindset of Disney World and the lusty glamour of Las Vegas. I enjoy using old-fashioned expressions and going on long tangits about totally pointless things. Occasionally I do not know when to shut up. This can be seen in my enormous English essays.

My hobbies besides the obvious (music and writing) are video games (Gamecube is more awesome than XBox or Playstation--sorry, I had to say it), art (which I'm not very good at but enjoy anyway), reading until my parents get annoyed by it, learning strange words, and questing to find the ultimate awesome popcorn seasing combination. I also enjoy torturing my friends with pointless trivia.

I've been reading since I was three and pretty much taught myself. I read a lot of classics--Victor Hugo, Edgar Allan Poe and Ray Bradbury are my favorite authors in that genre, along with H.G. Wells, George Orwell, Mark Twain, and Jules Verne. My favorite modern authors are Kenneth Oppel, Scott Westerfeld, J.K. Rowling, Cornelia Funke, K.A. Applegate, R.L. Stine, Christopher Paolini, and Lemony Snicket.

I'm notorious for not watching much television, but I watch Survivor and (most recently) Lost to a somewhat religious degree. I guess I have a thing for people being stuck on islands. I've also picked up on American Idol this season. (Currently rooting for Scott Macintyre and Adam Lambert, in that order.)

I used to play soccer and tennis to a mediocre degree and I am currently running track in school--again, not very well. I do play the guitar, badly. I've played for a year but I can't really play much better than someone who's played for three months because I teach myself and don't have much time. I've played clarinet for three years in the school band and recorder, if that counts...

Stuff I'm currently reading:
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo (again)
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
October Country by Ray Bradbury
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Inca Gold by Clive Cussler
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (again)
Extras by Scott Westerfeld
The Handbook of Astronomy by Claire Gibson

I prefer writing horror or suspense fiction. I don't know why, seeing as I can't watch some R-rated movies without nightmares. I am not one of those people to have their Word programs overflowing with half-finished drabbles, though. I take it a few stories at a time...really, really slowly. My muse is extremely stubborn and my homework load is massive, which is inversely related to the amount of time I have to write. Sorry about that.

Active and complete stories:

When Three Becomes Two - About the death of Tre Cool. Part one of a trilogy. Green Day fanfic. Completed.
Requiem of Revenge - Sequel to When Three Becomes Two. Green Day fanfic. Currently in (slow) progress.
The Real High School Musical - A parody of the first HSM. Simple. Completed. Will have a sequel eventually.
Ashes, Ashes, We All Fall Down - About a family that visits a deadly carnival. Original. Currently in (slow) progress.
Fall of the Unsinkable - About the sinking of the Titanic. Oneshot. Historical. Completed.
Forest - Keep the Faith. Oneshot. Completed.
House of the Damned - About a haunted house. MCR fanfic. Currently in progress.
Give Me the Chair - About a man who dies by electric chair. Oneshot. Original. Completed.
Wake the Dead - About a town who gets a visit from zombies. Oneshot, original, completed.
The Museum - About finding that the afterlife wasn't quite what you expected. Oneshot, original, completed.
Wisp - About a house that's haunted--but the ghosts aren't really as scary as they're made out to be. Oneshot, original, completed.

In the works:
(This is more like a previews sections, however, I am not one hundred percent guarenteeing any stories here will be written soon or at all. No promises here.)

If I do not respond to any comments/reviews/PM's you send me, please, please don't take it personally. I'm really shy in real life and online. So if I don't say anything, there's a 99.99% chance it's simply because I have nothing to say in reply.

I don't listen to a huge amount of bands, but some of them are Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Marilyn Manson, The Used, Panic(!) At the Disco, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Leathermouth, along with the musical soundtracks of Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.

However, I do not enjoy dancing, singing, math, football, unnecessary stupidity, large crowds, violence, extreme laziness, bad grammar, casserole, fish, rain, lack of common sense, or bathing suits.

So, yeah. I might add some more stuff later...even though I've been saying that for about a year now. I'm not very good with HTML, hence the slightly boring profile. For now, just use your imagination and pretend that all of this is in a bunch of coordinated colors in some really cool font.

Feel free to leave a comment. I don't bite much, and besides, the last guy was only in the hospital for a week...No, seriously, leave a comment, I take forever to reply but I'm happy to talk to people.
