Thank you for the comment, dear. :) The idea was that Emma and Troy were continuing survive after the apocalypse took out most of humanity. In this case the surviving percent of humans left is less than 15 throughout the entire planet. The longer Emma and Troy carry on the more her loneliness drives her mad. After writing the letter to Troy it's pretty much to be assumed that she kills herself because she can't take it anymore.
