it was three and a half years ago (right when Vices & Virtues had just come out) and they were spectacular! that was such a good show despite the awful crowd (which was the reason I dropped my phone in the first place) foxy shazam and fun. started up for them, which is cool because foxy is one of my favorites and it was right before fun's "we are young" got popular so when everyone loved that song I was like "yeah, I've seen them in concert "

nah dude don't even sweat it, there's always at least one song/band/album or whatever that I like from any given genre. like I said, my music taste is pretty ecclectic (Fall Out Boy and the Beastie Boys are my two all time favorite music groups, respectively, so that should tell you all you need to know, haha.)

I always wonder what genre they are, too! like they're not poppy enough to be considered straight up pop since they still hold their trademark alternative elements...I think on itunes it lists them as "genre rock" whatever the hell that means.

so I finally got to listen to your mix and oh my goddd i LOVE it. like I legitimately got emotional during some songs thinking about how they relate to Toni and Pete. you did a great job of mixing up genres because honestly pop punk (or whatever genre fob and mcr fall into these days) and electropop are my go-to genre mashup when it comes to playlists. they just sound so good together. I feel like we were on the same wavelength for this.

ahhhh yay!!! thank you for sending it to me! I've already favorited it and I'm gonna listen to it first thing tomorrow. and don't even worry, you're talking to someone with the most eclectic taste in music ever. ahh I'm glad you like Hannah, I feel like she doesn't get enough love. and yeah, your anger towards Pete is definitely warranted. I hate writing mean Pete but I have to portray how an average guy his age would react to his girlfriend not wanting to get intimate with him, y'know? it definitely is frustrating because he doesn't understand. people usually don't when things like this happen because they're not personally going through it.

I feel ya, dude, I was never really into painting the wives/girlfriends as the whiny, jealous stereotype that so many people seem to favor. like even before I realized it was kind of misogynistic, I just thought it was a really lazy way to write a character. no successful antagonist is that flatly written. and yeah, I'd feel guilty as well, especially since Meagan seems like an angel.

as for my stories, I really have no clue what's gonna happen to them. I don't think mibba is ever going to email me back about it (it's been two days and no reply lol...) sooo I'll probably just repost them. I hope I won't get in trouble for that in case someone thinks I'm plagiarizing or something...idk, this whole thing is just a mess. I'm probably gonna post a blog about it soon, asking for everyone's opinions on what I should do.

but yeah I have a bit of background with the disclaimers in Madness as well so even writing it makes me nervous. I'm honestly just glad you're sharing your opinion on it because that's one of the things I worry about the most with that story and my main goal is to just present the issues accurately and respectfully. I wouldn't have written them in if I didn't plan on portraying them as they happen in real life, y'know?

and I know what you mean about the fickleness, hahaha. I've been picking this story apart for god knows how long now. I also definitely agree with you about the present day scenes vs. the flashbacks. Sometimes it's hard for me to write Toni's present day self because of how grim everything is and how it just seems to go on forever (it's really just a pacing issue, I might fix it if I ever decide to re-vamp the story once it's finished) but rest assured, the memories will fade out once they catch up to the present and things will definitely look up from there. (I'm super excited about it if you couldn't tell.)

Thank you for continuing to read despite your skepticism. I think the warning is definitely what deters a lot of potential readers, so I appreciate that you even told me your thoughts on it. I actually debated for a looong time whether to go through with that storyline just because I know how triggering it is to read. I think the main reason I kept it in was because I wanted it to MEAN something in this story and be taken seriously, y'know, and have a lasting effect (like it would in reality) because it becomes such an integral part of Toni's and pretty much everyone else's lives, whereas in most fics if rape is introduced it's just a tactic due to lazy and problematic writing. ("He raped me but it's because he luvs me, oh our tortured romance!" like, nah, bruh. None of that shit.) BUT ANYWAY~

it's kinda funny, whenever someone randomly comments on Madness, it's always when I've been struck by inspiration to start writing it again, so you caught me at the perfect time, haha. I'm hoping to finish the newest chapter fairly soon, fingers crossed. Anyway, thank you again for reading and I'm so glad that you've decided to start writing again, I'll definitely look out for your stories in the future!
