  • I love the idea on falling on music by chance, like you did. That's pretty much how I ended up listening to The Strokes or The Libs or Neutral Milk Hotel. Plus my brother making me discover bands when I was 13 years-old. (And my dad listening to cool things too like Dylan, Dire Straits, Joy Division and Simon & Garfunkel. Yeah, family's good in making kids discover bands.) So yeah, I agree.
(Hey, about, members in the band looking good, I mean, it's a little bonus. If you see what I mean (: But yeah, I'm a huge Death Cab and Bright Eyes fan and i'm certainly not listening because of their looks x) Anyhow.)
Three cheers for you hating Williams, too. I've been listening a lot to female singers, lately, like Kate Nash -her music's so happy and good :)-, Regina Spektor -well, been listening to her music for like 3 years or so it's not that "lately"- Laura Marling and Alela Diane. She can't compare. Hayley Williams can't compare.
    Paramore is a shit band.
And concerning Perez Hilton, I don't think Peter cares, and he probably has never heard about this moron so it's all good x)
And well, the disney singers, Britney and CHristina Aguilera were Disney singers at the begining. Just see into what they turned and everything's said :D

How you do, by the way ? :)

  • I too totally agree with what you said. Have you ever noticed that "emo" singers all have the same voice ? I mean, I used to like emo, like three years ago (I still listen to screamo and hxc stuff 'cause I love it and I need my lot of people screaming.) and I was like "Yeah, that's pretty cool".
And I mean, now, it just sucks. I realized this yesterday while listening to "Men's Need" by The Cribs (they're brit and they're really good =D) and "Two Headed-Boy Part 2" by Neutral Milk Hotel (one of my fave band too) and some people just find themselves horrified when they hear these voices. But at least, they are original and you can tell that the singer believes in what he is saying. That's it, I just realized that "Indie" (I'm starting to hate this world too 'cause it's starting to be like the coolest thing to be, be indie, listen to oldies, wear skinnies. Why don't people just try and be themselves ? They discovered The Moldy Peaches in Juno and that's it, they're like "Wooh, I'm indie, I'm cool, I have a fucking ukulele" Grrrrr. Oh, and the best, my brother, is friend with some stupid emo girl and like year ago, it was cool to put on your blog a gif. And well the gif was taken from the "Heart In a Cage" clip. Of course people didn't know who was the tall lanky guy dropping his epiphone from the top of the Empire State but this girl, she had it too on her blog and my brother told her it was The Strokes and said something like "Vi, my sister, she's a real fan of them" and she went to see me and was like "I loooooove Heart In a Cage, I'm a Strokes fan too, the drummer's soooo hooooot". Being Indie is now cool even among emos. Kill me. You can't consider yourself as a fan when you've heard only one song.), and well, "indie" singers just offer a choice of very different voices. Ryan Jarman's voice doesn't sound like Conor Oberst's and Peter Doherty's voice doesn't sound like Jeff Mangum. Well, so, this it it.
What I meant is that All Time Low's like Cute Is What We Aim For, that Cassadee Pope just sounds -and looks like- Hailey Williams -clap your hands if you hate this girl !-, and the other way round, world without end, they'll always sound the same because they've all been to some Fall Out Boy school for emo bands -aka Fuelled by Ramen, and I mean, Phantom Planet got signed there and I fucking love this band, so WTF ?- and no originality.
Except for Cobra STarship. And Gym Class Heroes. Two good bands.

And, 'bout Perez HIlton, yeah, had he got any talent ?
Apart being mean to music genius like Peter. (I do believe that being mean is sometimes a god-sent gift. But be constructive and be mean to people who deserve it, like, oh, Katy Perry or Selena Gomez instead of praying them to the skies because the mainstream says they're the cool shit. Just want to punch them :) )

I too lost my faith in new music but, yeah, The Libs restore our faith in Humanity. And it's a shame that they're more famous for Peter's behaviour than their great music.
    Thank you the world.
    (I sound really misanthropic.)

  • Thirst thing, thank you for the story comment, I appreciate it ;)
And, well, about your little sister & the JoBros, I'd just like to state that little sisters tend to love them. Why ? I just don't know. It's like Tokio HOtel. They're like uber famous, & in Europe, three/four years ago, they were the in band like "Oh, you don't like it, you're not emo, you're not cool" (first thing, FUCK EMO :) ) Well, anyhow. My bestfriend, Ana, she's got a little sister too and she's in love with them too. Her little friends even knicknamed her Miss Danger, like Joe JOnas. Bleh. I'm glad I have a big brother who listens to cool music.
Well, yeah, they are like a plague.
I hope their fame will die.
    Just like Bieber.
And Miley Cyrus -turned into a real whore. Fun-.
I hate these bands, that's it.

Then, the comment that I didn't answer yet.
Well, Ze Strokes. It's just strating to piss me off. Seriously. I know that they don't owe us anything but still, it's been 2 years. 2 years during which they kept saying "Yeah, we're working on it. It'll be out in January of 2009". And then you learn that it'll be out in September 2009 and then in March 2010 and then May 2010 and then in September 2010 and then in fucking January 2011 and finally, it'll be out in March 2011.
So yeah, I'm worried about the band's future.
Casablancas and his album and the rest of the band not doing anything.
They toured like four dates in England. And that's it.

Luckily, The Libs are back which is like the best thing that could have happened this year. This year event. Reading & Leeds. Oh, by the way, I talked with a girl (she's like chasing after my brother, well, whatever) and she's going to the Reading too but she's going to see All Time LOw.
    All-Time-Low.
Just take a cup of culture, honey.
The Libs (plus lots of other goos bands) Vs. All Time Low.
    The world has gone mad.

    Long live The Libertines.
They keep me believing the world's not rotten yet.

Oh, and you asked if I had listened to Letting Off the Happiness. I have (actually, I have all the Bright Eyes and Conor discography on my Creative.). But my fave is Motion Sickness, the live album. I love concerts.

(And I'd also like to complain about Perez Hilton -gnuh.-, and his blog thing. I mean, the man posted things like "Who cares about the Strokes and The Libs being back ?" and he supports Bieber and some crappy "artists". This isn't human. Amnesty should intervene.)

  • I saw a picture of NIck Jonas with a Libs tee.
    WTF?!
I'm probably going to cry my eyes out.

I just needed to tell you.
    That's horrible.

  • Well, first, 'bout Ze Strokes, I've been disappointed... Well, because, it seems like there's an appartheid or something. I mean, there's Julian & the others. This is how I see thing because, I think that Julian... Well, never mind, it just leaves me a very strange feeling. Well, he's doing his little things and the others, they just don't do anything. I've used the word "well" 4 times, you can see how I don't know what to think xD

You're right, they're going to tour. If they ever decide that the album should come you know, just like they said, and always postpone the thing, which is making me quite angry.
Never mind, I comfort myself with Bright Eyes, Dirty Pretty Things & Florence & the Machine, now -____-

About the Libs, I know that Carl wants to record a solo album -what's with solo albums... ?-, and idk if the Libs are going to record but that'd be super cool x)

Oh, I'd like to read it -what you wrote-, like yeah, very soon =D
    (Personally, it's writer's block or me T____T)

  • x) Well. I'm quite fine. I'm finished with exams. Have the results on Monday. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get out of school with the bac.
And, I'm probably going to Reading & Leeds, 'cause I'm going to work in England this summer -East Sussex-, so I'm probably going to see The Libs.
    Probably. I'm not sure.

You said you weren't able to see the Strokes. I'm sorry :/ I checked their tour dates for the Summer, and I must say that their european dates were pretty soon in the summer so you had to be lucky and to be done with school to see them. Oh, NME made a cover report for their live at... idk, I think it's IOW (Nick gave a tv itw btw, not for NME, and he's like super classy and relax, cool.) and well, I'm a bit disappointed, well, never mind :)
Above all, I'm glad the Libs are back.

Btw, are you going to update WTLIAO ? -A.k.a "When the Light are Out"- =D

  • Just sayin hi, 'cause it's been a long time u___U
    So, how you do ?
I mean, how is it going in Texas ? :)
    July 1st, 2010 at 01:32pm
  • Heya!
Thanks! I'm in love with my layout! :L It took me ages to find someone to do it!
It is quite expensive to go to uni in England... I'm applying this year for my uni placements and I know the prices are going up a lot due to the new government. I think it goes up to 7,000 pounds per year, and then there's living costs too. I don't know how much it would be for you, as you don't live in England... :S But the Uni's here are awesome. :)
What are you looking to do at Uni?

    Hope you're good too!

  • England is great. I love it. :D But the only problem in the South-west is that no decent bands actually come here they always go to far away cities like London or Birmingham. :/ It sucks. Hopefully Pete will be so kind as to honour us with his presence! *fingers crossed*
If I ever meet Pete I'll tell him to tour Texas! :D Although wether he'd be able to get into America is something... >.<
Hopefully, at some point, you will get the chance to see them. :) Wether he goes to America or you come to England!
