Hey!

Don’t worry like gets in the way at times. Don’t we always think we’re keeping things hidden better than we actually are so I can see why Ava thinks she’s going a great job! Errr no I can’t remember who was on the list I’m afraid!

Hey love, long time no talk -- and that's on me, I know. I wanted to extend my apologies for taking so long with this update once again, and I also wanted to thank you for once again commenting on Slip -- both on this latest chapter and on the one before. It means the world to know that you're still here reading, and I'll endeavor to make sure you do eventually get to see this story's end. ...Hopefully without waiting two years for an update again.

Anyway, I'm glad you thought the recent update was worth the wait! I think I rushed the second half of the chapter a bit, or just otherwise struggled with Matt's perspective, because I don't think Ava came off as quite as... fractured as she truly is at that moment. Matt definitely agrees with you and hopes she opens up soon, too! And, well, she's not going to be able to keep everything bottled in, not in her current state, that's for sure. Funny thing is, she thinks she's already been opening up... because of course she does. She somehow manages to think she's an excellent poker player who can keep any secret and think everyone else is able to read her mind and understand her true meaning, all at the same time. It's a fatal flaw, obviously.... but it's Ava. What else can we expect, right?

v. Unrelated note, but I realize I didn't see your response last time/below. Glad I had you on your toes trying to figure out who it was Ava was meeting in the dive bar. Out of curiosity, do you remember who was on your list of possibilities?

I was playing the guessing game of who it was she was meeting. It totally interesting to see him finally brought in to it

I was going to try to reply here before you saw the update, but clearly you beat me to the punch when I was temporarily distracted by my puppy, haha. Seriously, though: your comments mean the world to me, and there honestly would've have been an update at all if it weren't for you.

I'm glad you enjoyed the update. Hopefully the glimpse into Ava's shadier dealings was interesting, and, you know, Rick's first real appearance was... I don't know. Something? Hopefully it was interesting enough that it lived up to any expectations one might've had all those years ago when he was last mentioned, haha.

Haha, she's confusing Bri, too, if that makes you feel any better. Actually, she's more worrying Bri than confusing him.

As to the Sacramento question, you'll just have to wait and see. (; But if it helps, that's where she and Zacky were for a few months.

I'm glad you enjoyed Zack in the last chapter, and I'm glad you thought it was worth the wait. I know that that unlabeled journal is still a great big mystery, but Matt's trying to clear everything up for everyone! He just honestly doesn't know what he's missing.

Yeah, it was really tough for both of them in the last chapter, and for very different reasons. I'm glad you can understand both points of view enough to feel bad for the both of them.

Haha, yeah... the guys can be a little... overzealous sometimes. I know Matt was getting on his last nerve with some of the interjections, there. Glad you found it amusing!

And I'm glad you can understand where Brian's coming from. I know most of the other readers are just pissed at him, so it's good to hear that someone can understand his perspective. Yeah, I want him to get over it soon, too, but we'll see how long that takes.

Her blind faith in Zacky right now is definitely... convenient, at least. xD Who knows how long that will last, though? Who knows if Drake planted enough doubts in time?

Yeah he came with the name Jay which I said was short for Johnny :)
Yeah I thought that could be something else that Matt would be thinking because before I read that it was her I did think that he was having a mental breakdown.

Oh, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your dog! That's got to be devastating to deal with! We had to put my dog down a few months ago, and it was one of the worst moments of my life. But those names would be very cool, and a great way to tie in your old dog! (:

You're right, Zacky does have the ability to talk to Matt now if he wants to, so that's always good (especially because Zacky and bottling things up usually tends to lead to explosive situations).

Butttt, just to play devil's advocate on Matt's behalf for a moment... He didn't think Zacky was lying about his mate being alive. He didn't think that at all! He was actually afraid that Zacky had had a mental breakdown and was seeing things, and he was worried about him. After all, he witnessed the explosion; as far as he was concerned, there was no way Ava had survived.

Hey just read it at you own time :) awwwwww it sounds like you've been kept busy. I found out that my dog that's down with my donkeys was ill and was/ is being out down. My grandad was looking at a new dog before we found out Zak was ill. I think if with get the dog and he doesn't have a name it'll be called Brian/Syn :)

Girl, I have not forgotten about reading that story! I just didn't realize that after my transatlantic flight home, I wasn't going to have any internet access unless I was at the library. And then I didn't realize that my new dog, post-surgery, was going to suddenly be terrified of her crate and need constant supervision, making it so that I couldn't go to the library after all. I'm sorry! But I do promise you that I will be reading it! I just want to get through all of the comments I owe first. And apparently swim with dolphins. I don't know when that got added to my list, but apparently that's what my family is doing today.
